Miles is 2!

I can't believe our little baby is 2 years old today. Time really does go by and every moment is so precious. It seems like Miles is growing up so quickly, especially these days. Learning and exploring constantly. Surprising us with new sentences, and very descriptive ones at that! It's such a pleasure to watch him grow up and to see his personality shine even more.

We had a birthday party for Miles this past weekend. His first birthday party was in a hotel room, we definitely wanted to make it up to him and have the whole shabang this year! =) Miles absolutely loves airplanes. He spots them instantly and he knows it by the sound instantly as well. It was pretty easy to pick out a theme for him =) I had a goal of making him an airplane birthday cake and I actually did it! Took a lot of time but it was definitely worth it when I saw his reaction on the morning of his birthday party. He loved seeing the little airplane decor around our place and he loved seeing all of the kids & adults here too. He got shy when we sang Happy Birthday to him even though, he absolutely loves that song and usually blows a "candle" when it's over. I love seeing him shy =) Miles was very happy with the presents he got. And he has talked about his birthday party daily ever since.

At this point, Miles has really wowed us. (He always wows me though, hehe) He gets so many concepts so quickly. He knows what's going on around him. He's polite and very social. It's so fun to have real conversations with him. His responses are just classic. =) He knows his numbers in 3 languages and he knows his colors. Miles is awesome at remembering people. I love that he knows his cousins by name, even though we don't see them all of the time. His personality, as well as every child this age, is just so genuine and beautiful. Even his 2 year old tantrums and emotional breakdowns are funny to just experience (at times) ; )

Miles, happy birthday my precious boy.
I hope you have many more years and sweet memories to make. Mama and Papa love you so much and we are excited to see you grow up - just don't grow up too quickly ok? ; ) You make us so proud to be your parents and we know that you'll be a great Kuya to the little babies. God blessed us when you were placed in my arms two years ago and I will always treasure you and watch over you. I love you dearly.

Khoury Babies!

We have some big (double) news! We are expecting TWINS this year! =) It's still surreal to me to think about at times, even though, I've known for a month now. Tim and I are very excited about the babies this year. Miles is going to be a big brother, and we both think he'll be great. I wonder if Baby A and Baby B are boys, girls, or 1 girl/1 boy. =) 2013 is just full of love!

Aruba Trip (a little delayed in posting)

March 14-18th we took a little trip to Aruba! We went there with our good friend Ruchir. It was nice to be somewhere really warm..and to enjoy the beach & sunshine. The past month has been such a whirlwind of different trips! It's been a lot of fun and hard to keep up with! haha

Aruba is such a small island. It was our first time there. We got to drive all over the whole thing! We got to enjoy several beaches. We also watched the water crash into these beautiful huge rocks along the coast. Miles loved everything about Aruba. He loved the beaches, the water, the boats, and the rocks he found all around. It was fun going to this one beach called Baby Beach - the water was so shallow. It was neat to walk out really far and to even watch Miles walk in the water for a good distance! =)

It was nice to have a little tropical vacation... especially since we'll get pretty busy towards the end of the year ;)

California Recap

Miles and I flew to California on Feb. 22nd and came back on March 3rd. It was nice to spend time with my sister and her family. Miles loved being able to play with his cousins Lily and Ian every day. He loved playing the piano with his Kuya Ian (I'm not sure if Ian was as excited as Miles though, hehe) Miles loved everything Ian did. haha

During our trip, we went to Disney California Adventures. The weather was perfect for our outing, so many people were there as well. It was a great time and Miles got to ride a few rides. We even rode the big ferris wheel (I hate ferris wheels, they make me icky) =P

It was a nice relaxed trip with no specific agenda. A couple friends visited me and Miles, which was nice during the week. My friend Neha drove 2 hours to see us and brought nice gifts for Miles =) So nice of her. It was fun to talk and catch up with her. On our last Saturday, we went to Santa Monica to hang out there.. and my friend Ralph met us up. I haven't seen him since September so it was nice to see him again.

During the week, Miles and I tagged along with my sister doing the carpooling thing with the kids and her friend's kids. Miles really wanted to go to school with his Ate Lily and Kuya Ian. At nights, we hung out at home or went out to eat a few times. We spent some time at the beach before going to dinner one night. Miles loved that...to the point of drama when we had to leave. =P We also went to Lily and Ian's piano lesson on Friday. Miles liked listening to the music while we waited in the waiting room. Also on Friday, we went to Lily's school for their Jog-A-Thon. The weather was nice and sunny and hot. Perfect day to just sit out there and watch kids run. hah

It was so nice to be in California and get away from yucky weather back in the east. It's funny to think that my sister and her family will be here in a few weeks and we can all hang out again.

Our Little Singer

Miles loves the song "We Are Young" by Fun. Whenever I ask him if he wants to listen to music, he gets so excited and says "O Tay!" (Okay!) And when I ask him "What do you want to listen to?" He always responds with "We are young." =) Enjoy this video of him singing his favorite =)

Hartford Whalers Hockey Game

It's funny.. we've been living in Connecticut for almost a year and we haven't really checked out the city of Hartford that much. We've had a few meals out in Hartford (and Tim & I got a date night out one night - when my parents were in town) and I've done bikram yoga a few times there, but that's pretty much it. On Saturday, we decided to go to a Hartford Whalers hockey game. Seems like a nice local thing to do =) It was mine and Miles' first hockey game. It was a lot of fun.

At first, I was worried about how Miles would be (he's been very hyper and squirmy these days) but he did great during the entire time we were watching the game. He cheered, danced, and paid attention to the action. He had a lot of fun. It was so cute to hear him say "hockey!", "wow!!", and "whoa!" =) and to see him clap his hands over his head. The family in the row in front of us had fun watching Miles =)

Hopefully we can do this again - it was a great time.

Here is a little video of Miles' dancing at the hockey game:

Happy Birthday Papa!

Yesterday was Tim's 29th birthday! Last year in his twenties =) Miles and I made a special cake for him on Friday. Miles wanted to have some right away but I told him he had to wait until Papa's birthday. hehe Miles greeted Tim with "Happy day, Papa" on his birthday =) That was cute.

For Tim's birthday, I made him a special breakfast of crepes with nutella, strawberry, banana, & whipped cream. Later on, we went shopping for him and had a quick lunch at a French bakery in West Hartford. It was fun to hang out, though, I wanted to get home quickly because I invited a couple of our friends from New York for a surprise gettogether with Tim. =) They arrived at our house before we  got home from West Hartford, so the "surrprise!!" moment just happened in the driveway. hehe It was cute; they brought him a cupcake with a candle on it. =) Tim was pretty surprised with it all. We surprised him with his birthday cake later on. He really liked it and thought it was awesome. =) We all went out for pizza for his birthday dinner at our favorite pizza place. Miles had so much fun hanging out with Tita Pretty (Melissa) and Tito Eric. He showed them his airplane, Monkey, Boo, and Puppy. =)

Today, I made them all Baked Eggs (mine and Tim's new favorite dish!) for breakfast before heading to church. Melissa & Eric loved it.  It was nice to go to church all together, but Miles is so squirmy nowadays. It's getting more and more exhausting trying to keep him in our arms or to stay with us and not run off. (We had to stand today because it was pretty full in church) After church, we went to West Hartford again, to eat some empanadas for lunch. Yummy ymmy. =) It was a relaxing day, hanging out at home with Melissa & Eric before they headed back to the City. We're so glad they came over to celebrate =) Tim loved his birthday full of yummy food and great friends.

Happy Birthday, Papa! We love you.

Miles the Football Player

Miles got a football in his stocking from Santa. He was a big fan =) He was really good at throwing it on Christmas day. Enjoy the video! =)
